CARLTON, Texas – The owner of a construction company is selling his property to pay for repairs to the roof of a home in northwest Texas that has collapsed in a severe thunderstorm.
The collapse of a house at the northwest Texas site last month was blamed on a strong wind and rainstorm that swept through the area.
It is one of many homes in the area that have been damaged by severe storms.
Carlton Mayor James Goss said the town will likely pay the contractors $300,000 to repair the roof.
Goss says the contractor will be paid for the work at a later date.
He says he wants the homeowner to have a say in how the roof is repaired.
